Types and functions of PE foam material film covering
Types and functions of PE foam material film covering

PE foam material is commonly used in die-cutting bottle cap liners and packaging fields. Its surface strength is insufficient, it is easy to tear, and there is a slight foam texture on the surface. The common method to solve these problems is to apply a thin film on the surface of the foamed substrate through lamination.

1. Classification of membrane appearance

No film covering: Basic PE material,Can be waterproof and moisture-proof on a daily basis, meeting the sealing needs of most products.

Matte film: The surface of the matte film has a delicate matte texture, forming a uniform diffuse reflection to eliminate glaring reflections. It presents a soft and understated matte effect. Matte film is dirt resistant, scratch resistant, and wear-resistant.

Bright film: The surface of the bright film is as smooth as a mirror, which can effectively reflect light. Its surface has high glossiness, presenting a bright and lively visual effect. After laminating, the surface is smooth and delicate, waterproof and moisture-proof, and wear-resistant.

2.Types of membranes

PE film (polyethylene film): a universal protective film.

PE film is the most commonly used coating material for PE foaming. After coating, the hardness of the material is slightly increased, the transparency of the material is reduced, and the tensile and tear resistance are significantly improved, making the material whiter and stronger. Due to the same origin as the substrate, PE film is environmentally friendly and recyclable, making it the most commonly used protective film on the market.

PP film (polypropylene film): a stiff protective film

After being coated with PP film, the material becomes brighter, and its mechanical strength, stiffness, toughness, airtightness, moisture resistance, and cold and heat resistance are further improved.

PET film (polyester film): a high-strength protective film

The tensile strength of PET film is about 5-10 times that of PE film, and its stiffness and impact resistance far exceed those of PP and PE. At the same time, PET film has good transparency (with a light transmittance of over 90%), and products using PET film have excellent stiffness, bending resistance, and puncture resistance. However, its UV resistance is poor and it is prone to static electricity, so static elimination treatment is required before printing.
